It deviated from the original 2D fighting of the Budokai series by giving players a three-dimensional space to move in. The games allowed players to choose from a variety of characters across the Dragon Ball franchise and duke it out in third-person combat.
The Budokai Tenkaichi games based on the Dragon Ball universe created by Akira Toriyama were once some of the most popular anime fighters in the gaming industry. The last mainline entry in the series, Budokai Tenkaichi 3, launched over 15 years ago back in 2007. While the title has yet to be revealed, most fans assume this is Budokai Tenkaichi 4. Bandai Namco Entertainment has surprised Dragon Ball fans this morning by announcing a new Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi game.
